DR MARIANNE MILLER

CARING EATING DISORDER TREATMENT IN SAN DIEGO AND THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA AND WASHINGTON D.C. FOR ADULTS & TEENS

I know how frustrating it is to have something in your life that feels like it is overshadowing everything else.

There is so much good about your life, but you don't feel like you ever find that ease, peace, and real happiness that you seem to see all around you.

You Can…

Love your body

Treat your body with respect

Feel healthy

Not having food occupying your mind for 90% of your waking hours

Hi, I’m Dr. Marianne!

I am passionate about helping you move through eating challenges so you can feel more supported and at ease in your daily life in San Diego and throughout California and Washington, D.C. I am originally from Denver, Colorado and completed graduate school in Texas before settling in San Diego, California, a place I have come to love deeply. Whether you grew up here or moved here later, it can be difficult to find care that truly understands ARFID and neurodivergent experiences, including ADHD and autism. Everyday situations like eating with others, trying new foods, or navigating routines can feel overwhelming or exhausting. If food feels stressful, unpredictable, or hard to manage, I can help you find approaches that work with your needs rather than against them.

I have a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California #87667 and Washington D.C. #200001328

I also have Master’s Degree (M.MFT) in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.

I was in academia full-time for 12 years at Alliant International University's marriage and family therapy program in Scripps Ranch, San Diego, California.

I hold membership in:
California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT)

What does this mean for you?

Through my involvement with professional organizations and treatment centers, I stay engaged with current research on couples, families, and eating disorders while also continuing to develop my own work on family therapy and how it can best treat eating disorders like ARFID. I have attended and presented at conferences in San Diego, California, Texas, Washington, D.C., and beyond. In addition, I pursue ongoing eating disorder training in San Diego through programs such as the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Eating Disorder Center, Center for Discovery, Monte Nido, and Eating Recovery Center.

At the same time, I believe research alone is not enough. Lived experience plays a critical role in shaping meaningful, effective care. Listening to the voices of people who have navigated eating disorders, especially neurodivergent individuals and those with ARFID, helps ensure that treatment is grounded in real-world needs, not just clinical theory. My approach integrates both evidence-based research and lived experience perspectives, so care feels relevant, respectful, and truly supportive.

My interests are…

I would love to help you find a process that works for you. Whether you are navigating ARFID or other eating challenges, your experience deserves to be understood. I integrate research and lived experience to support care that aligns with your needs.
