How a Self-Paced Online Binge Eating Program Can Enhance Therapy for Eating Disorders, Anxiety, and Depression

Plus sized gorgeous woman looking down. Sometimes we don't know whether a therapist vs. coach is better for binge eating recovery. I offer a structured online binge eating program in Florida, NYC, Colorado, London, and Ontario.

You’re in therapy for anxiety, depression, family issues, or even an eating disorder, and you are needing something…more. Some other resources or support that will accelerate your binge eating recovery in San Diego, London, Atlanta, Chicago, and elsewhere. You’ve tried group therapy, and may even have found it helpful. You just need something that you can access any time—A system of binge eating recovery that really works. A support network that feels safe and secure. Something run by a trained eating disorder professional. Well, I’ve got you covered! I’ll share three reasons why a self-paced online binge-eating program can enhance therapy for many things. It’s a perfect pairing!

Why I Wish There Was a Self-Paced Online Binge Eating Program During My Binge Eating Recovery Journey

After I reached out to an eating disorder therapist to help me recover from a binge eating disorder in San Diego, California, I soon realized that I needed more support than weekly sessions. I then joined a support group, run by other people who struggled with similar issues. It was so helpful not to feel alone; however, some of the information, recommendations, and advice were not so helpful. It actually triggered a bit of a relapse, which was a hole out of which I had to climb to continue my recovery. Also, I read a lot of books on binge eating recovery. Some of them were helpful. Others not so much. I wish that there had been a self-paced online binge-eating program during those years when I was knee-deep in binge-eating recovery. Below are three reasons why.

Reason #1: The Need for More Reliable Information on Binge Eating

Researchers and scholars have not been studying binge eating disorders and binge eating in general as long as they have examined bulimia (since the 1970s) and anorexia (since 1689!). The diagnosis of binge eating disorder came to be in 2013, with the publication of the DSM-V. I was in recovery prior to 2013, so research was scarce and not so accurate.

False information is everywhere

Although now more research exists, there continues to be inaccurate information online, as diet and wellness companies have profited so much off of the notion that binge eating has to do with willpower. This belief is completely false. Information that pathologizes and shames people who struggle with binge eating needs to be countered with accurate information that is grounded in science.

Neuroscience researchers have also contributed more brain studies on binge eating in recent years. It’s often difficult to find such information. Having it in one online location, in one self-paced, virtual binge eating recovery program, is vital. It provides great psychoeducation and avoids binge eating recommendations grounded in myths. It’s an excellent accompaniment to therapy because I deliver the data in an easily digestible way that you can take to your therapist and discuss.

Reason #2: The Need for a Structured Binge Eating Recovery System

Beautiful black woman smiling. A structured online binge eating program may be just what you need. Did you know that a binge eating therapist and a binge eating coach can help you with binge eating recovery? See how!

Treatment protocols for binge eating do exist. They are grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. There is often a self-compassion component, as well as interpersonal therapy.

Here is what I do know…

To my knowledge, there is no structured, step-by-step binge-eating recovery system that binge-eating therapists use. I’ve created just that. I’ve used it for many years in thousands of hours of therapy. Even though this self-paced virtual binge eating program is not the same as therapy, I teach the same coping skills, education, and recovery strategies that I share with my binge eating disorder therapy clients.

Benefits of an online binge eating program and therapy

Having a structure to the recovery helps you lay a foundation and construct the framework for your binge-eating recovery house so that you can establish one that will withstand the worst of storms.

Plus, I include my extensive training in family systems therapy to teach you how to address family issues and shift relationship patterns around food, eating, and body image. All this will set you up for binge eating recovery success. You’ll receive so much training that you’ll surprise your eating disorder therapist with how much you grow in between sessions.

Reason #3: The Need for Safe, Online Binge Eating Help

There are a lot of online binge eating support groups, as well as in-person and virtual eating disorder group therapy support groups that exist. The issue is that the majority of them are not led by highly trained, experienced eating disorder therapists who specialize in binge eating treatment. I’ve created a private, invisible Facebook group that creates the support that you need to accelerate your binge eating recovery.

I post encouragement and research updates in this group. I also have a weekly LIVE event where I cover relevant topics, based on the needs of the group members. I closely monitor this group to ensure no triggering topics are introduced. I ensure that it’s completely safe so that you can rest in the fact that you can share and support each other in a confidential way. Being a part of this exclusive Facebook group will enhance the therapy process because it’ll be supported at your fingertips.
