What the Heck is Coaching Anyway? Meet Personal Coach Cassie Gaub.

Hello and Happy New Year! I wanted to introduce you to a good friend of mine who has been working for years in the eating disorder field in San Diego, Utah, and now Atlanta. She is also a personal coach, and I can tell you that she is AMAZING at what she does! I have gone to one of her seminars on unearthing your personal attitudes about money, and I found it so transformative. She is incredibly positive, encouraging, and nonjudgmental. People from all walks of life would benefit from working with her—especially those who want support and accountability to instigate powerful change in their lives. I interviewed her both on her experience in the eating disorder community and on what she can provide as a coach. Enjoy!

How long have you been in the eating disorder world, both in San Diego and other places?

I started working in the eating disorder field back in 2007. I was based in San Diego until 2018 when I decided I was ready for a new adventure and relocated to Atlanta where I work as the clinical outreach coordinator in for Center For Discovery, which is an eating disorder and mental health treatment organization.

What do you enjoy about working with the eating disorder community?

The eating disorder world has been my "home" for so long. I have been honored to work alongside some of the most incredible people you can imagine! Really, the heart of the professionals who work with eating disorders continues to amaze and inspire me. There are so many wonderful people in this community!

I know that you have an online coaching business. Congratulations!

Thank you! It has been such a fun adventure working as a coach-- it's actually something I'd done for a while before starting my own business and have had positive experiences personally working with coaches as well.

What kind of online coaching do you provide?

I am able to work with folks one-on-one, as well as provide group coaching and DIY (or go at your own pace) courses. As a certified coach, I individualize programs and work with people on a variety of things-- from starting their own businesses, to gaining clarity, or simply helping people develop accountability routines and so much more-- it really is such a fun, personalized and incredible way to support people live their best (and most fulfilling) lives.

Who are your favorite types of clients to work with?

All of my clients are so incredible. I really enjoy working with folks who are interested and motivated toward growth--whatever that might look like for them and whether or not they have a clear end goal in mind.

What happens during a first consultation with you?

During a clarity call, I'll chat with people about where they are and where they want to be, or if they are simply feeling lost etc. We talk about what coaching is (and isn't), how we'll work together and the clarity call is also to make sure we're going to be a fit working together. Ultimately, coaching is an investment in yourself. It is an important and worthy decision, and I want to make sure clients and I are on the same page moving forward so that the client can get results!

What do you wish people knew about online coaching?

I wish people knew how diverse and individualized coaching is. I also wish that more people knew they don't have to have a clear step-by-step plan in mind before working with a coach. A lot of what I do with clients is help them gain clarity as well as work on cultivating a positive mindset.

What sort of special programs do you have going on right now?

The thing I am really excited about right now is our World Growth Coaching Summit, which is offered through my coaching platform, the Best U Institute. It is a free event from January 25-27th where you can listen in and learn from some incredible experts on relationships, personal growth, etc.: Brad Yates, Lola B, Jessica Yaffa, Candace Mckenzie, Cara Polis, Maria Latinville, and Abbey Griffith. People can register for that event at www.bestuinstitute.com.

How can people learn more and contact you?
